UFO's

As promised, here are two of the unfinished projects I hope to be working on this year...

This is Karen Cunningham's Antique Sampler, the very first full quilt I worked on back in 2003. I used my favourite Autumn (Fall) colours and really enjoyed the hand-stitching as well as the companionship of getting together with some very talented ladies once a month...

I just have a couple of stems to applique on the fruit and then it's ready to quilt. I love this little quilt so much that I think I will get a professional to quilt it for me. Hubby has the perfect place to hang it - over an antique console we inherited from an old relative of his.

The next quilt I want to complete this year is another design by Karen Cunningham - "Miss Emma". This promises to be a very large quilt, just the right size for my queen size bed!

So far I've used only fabrics already in my stash for these patches, unlike the Antique Sampler which was made from fabrics bought especially for the project.

I've made four of these "stars", which form the centre medallion of the quilt (please excuse my lack of terminology, I'm such a novice!)

The pink fabric on the bottom right hand corner is what I may be replacing the centre of the flower or star as I feel the bright cool yellow that I used somewhat clashes with the rest of the quilt...

I've made all the blocks that make up the next row -

...and these are almost done. I've machine pieced these, they now need a circle in the middle and "petals" on the outside so they will look like flowers...

The fabrick at the bottom is what I will use for all the blocks so they will "tie in" although they are very scrappy. The colour is not true to life, it is much more cool green than what it has come up as...

...and just for fun, look who found a comfy spot inside one of my sewing baskets! It's Presley the four month old kitten...don't get too comfortable!

Here's to a productive week!

Wish me luck...

Sandra
